Richard Paul was born in Albany NY 1957 and went to school in Troy NY. Richard Paul is a 3rd generation self taught artist, he was recognized all through grade school and high school as a natural with his stand out talent. Encouraged at a young age by his mother (an accomplished oil painting artist ) to focus on developing his own style with the same importance as developing his God given talent. After graduating high school Richard Paul moved to Texas to pursue employment in the construction industry. Richard Pauls passion for art was always on the back burner. In his early twenties he locked into his distinctive black and white chalk drawings. Richard Paul always relied on his drawings as the perfect gift for family and friends. When asked why he did not pursue his art full time , the standard reply was "When I retire" or " I just don't have the time".
Richard Paul traveled the entire country with his Construction Management career, always seeking out the art galleries in whatever town he was in, refueling his passion for the arts. Richard Paul finally retired from construction in 2013 and is now actively pursuing his life long passion that he never gave up on.
